Copsemar
Copsemar is headquartered in Sueca (Valencia) where it has all the necessary means for the cultivation, selection and packaging of certified seed.
Copsemar has a series of rice farms that are cultivated directly by the entity, where the first generations of each of the varieties are obtained and where the strictest production and purification controls are applied. The latest generations of commercial seilla (R-1 and R-2) are grown under the technical supervision of the cooperative on farms owned by farmer-collaborators.
In addition, Copsemar sells rice seed in other provinces where there are non-member cooperatives of rice producers, such as Gerona and Cádiz.
In 2009, Copsemar signed an agreement with the multinational company BASF for the multiplication and marketing of the varieties of the Clearfiel® System exclusively for Spain and Portugal, expanding the catalog of varieties in production.
It is a series of non-transgenic varieties that present a resistance gene to a herbicide, which allows its application without causing damage to the plants of the variety. This system is currently the most effective in the fight against red or wild rice and is the major cause of loss of quality of crops obtained by having a red pericarp that constitutes a defect at the industrial level.
